TIMING IS EVERYTHING

First, big thanks to DC Metro Mom for the opportunity to blog each month.  I invite readers to submit questions regarding all things home improvement and I’ll give you my take.  Let me know if there is a DIY project you are interested in and maybe I can help you with a How-To Video. And since we all love before/after photos, I’ll be sure to post some from time to time.

One of the most asked questions by homeowners today is:  Is this really the best time to make improvements?  The answer is YES.  (Since posing this question to someone in the build and design biz might sound like asking a kid if now is the best time for ice cream, I’ll qualify my answer.)

There is evidence all around that the market is picking up, while interest rates remain low.  The downside?  The cost of remodeling is going to increase significantly soon.  Here at Moss, we have kept quite busy over the past 3 years due to an incredible referral base, but that isn’t the case for many companies.  As the general market picks up, the supply and demand equation is going to work against the consumer by exploiting low inventories and a smaller provider network, resulting in higher prices across the board, perhaps as much as 15% by the 3rd quarter.

Bottom line:  If you are going to remodel, there will not be a better time in the coming years than right now.
