Accomplish your New Years Resolutions in 2012: Schedule, Schedule, Schedule!
Guest Blog by Rachel Strisik
It's that time of year again when we are all making resolutions for the New Year. Some are new resolutions while others are the same ones we've made year after year and were never able to accomplish. Whether your resolution is to get your home organized, lose weight or to spend more time with your family, a few easy tips will keep you on the right track so you can accomplish your resolution!
Schedule, schedule, schedule! One of the most common reasons that we don't go through with our resolutions and goals each year is because of time. Life as a parent is busy already and most of the time it seems like there isn't even an extra second in the day. So how could you possibly make a whole hour for the gym, go to the movies with your husband or sort through all the papers in your home? The answer is to write it down.
Writing each part of your day on a calendar or in a day planner helps create time slots. Treat each daily activity as an appointment and write the allotted time you have to spend on that appointment. By looking at your week written out you will not only see where you have time to spare but you can make it a priority to schedule your New Year's resolution. If your resolution is to lose weight, schedule going to the gym as an appointment that you can't miss. If you see you have an extra ten minutes the night before, schedule a time for yourself to pack your gym bag so you can quickly get out the door. Remember that it is important to create time in your busy schedule as a mom for the things you want to accomplish. When you accomplish your goals you'll feel satisfied and happy and your family will be happy for you!
